Spotify is rolling out Taste Profile to adult Premium subscribers in the United States, giving listeners a direct way to inspect and change the preferences behind their recommendations. The feature uses plain-language instructions instead of requiring people to influence the algorithm indirectly through weeks of listening.

A user can ask for more variety, reduce a genre or artist, emphasize a particular mood, or remove habits that do not represent a real preference. That could stop sleep sounds, shared-car listening or another person’s music from shaping Discover Weekly, Made for You suggestions and the annual Wrapped summary. Spotify already allowed individual tracks and playlists to be excluded, but the new controls operate across music, podcasts and audiobooks.

Taste Profile appears in the mobile app under the account menu. After reviewing Spotify’s current interpretation, the listener enters a change under “Tell us more.” The company says the Home page should reflect the request within a few hours.

The feature debuted as a New Zealand test after being announced in March and is now entering Spotify’s largest market by traffic and revenue. It remains a beta for users aged 18 and older, and Spotify has not provided a schedule for other countries or free accounts.
