Google is testing a “universal” Gemini agent that can work across applications and devices from one Gemini Enterprise interface. The product is available only to enterprise customers in a private preview, with no broad release date announced.

Users can assign work through mobile, desktop or web clients. The cloud-hosted agent can operate inside Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendar, as well as third-party services including Slack and Microsoft 365. Google says it maintains the same context across connected devices rather than treating each application as a separate conversation.

The agent can delegate parts of a job to specialized subagents and select a model suited to each task. Companies can also give a coworker agent its own identity and an address using an “@agents.company.com” format, allowing people and systems to direct work to it more like a colleague.

The preview consolidates capabilities Google has been introducing separately across Workspace and Gemini. Its practical value will depend on permissions, audit trails, data boundaries and how clearly users can review actions before they affect email, documents or calendars. Private-preview status also means the described workflow may change before general availability.
