Claude Haiku 5.5 is now available through Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS. The smaller Anthropic model targets high-volume work such as classification, summarization, document scanning, tool routing and narrowly scoped coding changes.
Haiku 5.5 is the first model in the Haiku line with effort controls, allowing developers to trade additional computation for better results on a request. It supports tool and computer use, agentic coding and high-resolution images. Anthropic says most tasks cost about 75 percent less than with Haiku 4.5, although actual savings depend on prompt length, output volume and chosen effort.
Bedrock access keeps billing and operational controls within AWS, including IAM permissions, CloudTrail auditing, CloudWatch monitoring and Bedrock Guardrails. Customers can call the model through Bedrock’s Invoke or Converse APIs or use Anthropic’s Messages API against an AWS endpoint. Claude Platform on AWS provides Anthropic’s native console and features with AWS authentication and billing.
AWS presents Haiku as a fast subagent paired with larger models for difficult planning and judgment. That division can lower cost, but teams still need task-specific evaluations: vendor benchmarks and family labels do not guarantee that a smaller model will execute a particular tool workflow safely.
