DoorDash has opened a limited beta for dd-cli, a command-line tool that can search stores, build carts, and place orders from the terminal. TechCrunch frames the launch as part of a move toward software designed for AI agents as well as developers.
The product matters because agents need reliable interfaces for real-world transactions. A CLI can be easier for automated systems to use than a consumer app designed around human taps and screens.
It also hints at a future where consumer services expose agent-friendly controls, with new questions around permissions, spending limits, and mistake recovery.
