Cursor has launched Origin, a Git-based code-hosting service embedded in its AI coding editor. The early beta appears in a new Codebase tab for Pro, Teams and Enterprise plans and supports repositories, pull requests, browser-based code navigation and synchronization with GitHub.
Developers can clone, push and pull over HTTPS or use Cursor’s command-line tool. For repositories mirrored from GitHub, updates are pulled into Origin but pushes still go to GitHub, leaving the existing service as the authoritative copy. Cursor describes Origin as agent-native infrastructure and is developing features around stacked pull requests and agent-aware merge queues.
The beta is narrower than a mature software forge. Public repositories and built-in continuous integration are not currently part of the documented feature set, and organizations still need other tools for issues and automation. Enterprise administrators can opt out of the beta.
Keeping code, reviews and agent actions in one editor may reduce context switching for Cursor teams. It also raises questions about code custody, retention and model-training policies that organizations will need answered before moving sensitive repositories. In its current form, Origin is an additional hosting surface alongside GitHub rather than a complete replacement.
