Cloudflare is adding dashboard tools that treat AI agents as a core audience for websites. Its Agent Readiness checks and new Answer Engine Optimization tool are meant to show whether agents can discover, read, and recommend a site, not just whether humans click it from search results.
The company says fewer than half of HTML page requests now come from humans, though not all machine traffic represents agents acting for users. The broader shift is clear: customers may ask an assistant to compare options or complete a task before they ever visit a homepage.
Agent Readiness scans a hostname the way an agent might. It checks basics such as robots.txt, sitemaps, clean machine-readable content, response headers, metadata, authentication instructions, and emerging standards such as MCP, A2A agent cards, Web Bot Auth, and agent-payment protocols.
The practical message for site owners is that analytics built around page views and human clicks are incomplete. If agents become the front door to decisions, sites need to be readable, trusted, and callable by software acting on behalf of customers.
