AWS has outlined a governance approach for AI agent tool access using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway. The post describes how enterprises can connect agents to existing tools while adding control and auditability rather than rebuilding every system around one platform.
The framework is organized as a maturity model with four scopes: Connect, Control, Catalog, and Harden. That progression matters because many companies want agents to act across business systems, but tool access creates security, compliance, and operational risks.
AWS’s practical message is incremental adoption. Teams can start by connecting tools, then add stronger controls and hardening as real governance needs appear. The limit is that organizations still have to define policies, ownership, and monitoring for the agents they deploy.
