Trane Technologies has built a conversational system that lets building operators question live HVAC data instead of searching through multiple dashboards. In internal tests with technicians, the company says a diagnostic workflow that took 20 minutes fell to about 20 seconds.

The system connects Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to Trane Cloud, which holds telemetry from millions of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning assets. It can combine real-time performance data, fault alerts, energy use and technical documentation. Responses change with the user’s role and permissions: a technician can receive fault codes and troubleshooting detail, while an owner can ask for portfolio-level efficiency or sustainability information.

Trane separated the agent’s reasoning from the tools that retrieve operational data. That design gives the company a central gateway for controlling which data and actions the assistant can reach. The first version took roughly three to four weeks to build, according to the companies.

The 60-fold speedup is based on Trane’s own benchmarking over several weeks, not an independent study. Its practical value will depend on whether answers remain accurate across the many equipment types and access levels found in real buildings.
