Spur Intelligence has raised $200 million from Insight Partners for technology that helps companies tell real human traffic from bots.
TechCrunch reports that Spur’s tools are aimed at identifying whether online activity comes from legitimate users or automated systems. That distinction is becoming more important as bots are used for scraping, fraud, fake signups, spam, and abuse of AI services.
The funding reflects a broader internet problem: automation is getting cheaper and more convincing. Companies need ways to measure traffic quality without blocking real users or relying on tests that frustrate customers.
Bot detection is also becoming part of the AI economy. Model providers, publishers, marketplaces, and app developers all face automated traffic that can distort analytics or increase costs. Spur’s challenge is staying accurate as attackers adapt and as ordinary users browse through privacy tools, proxies, and shared networks.
