Slack is introducing Slack Code, a set of dedicated channels for teams to collaborate with AI coding agents. The launch includes project-specific code channels, user tabs, and tools for comparing coding changes and preparing reviews.

The idea is to move AI-assisted programming closer to where team conversations already happen. Instead of scattering context across chat, issue trackers, terminals, and coding tools, Slack wants a shared place where people and agents can discuss and inspect work.

For engineering teams, the benefit would be less handoff friction and more visibility into agent-made changes. The limitation is that collaboration features do not replace the need for testing, code review, and security checks before generated code reaches production.
