Respond.io has raised $62.5 million to expand its AI agent-powered customer messaging platform, TechCrunch reports. The Malaysia-based startup uses AI agents to handle high volumes of customer inquiries and charges by conversation rather than by seat.

The model fits a broader shift in customer-support software from human-seat licensing toward automated resolution and usage-based pricing. If agents handle more conversations, vendors can price around outcomes instead of headcount.

Respond.io is also eyeing acquisitions in North America and Europe, suggesting regional AI software companies are looking for faster paths into global enterprise markets.
