Plaud has introduced the Plaud One Explorer Edition, a $249.99 pair of wireless earbuds designed to record, transcribe and summarize conversations. The devices can be worn normally or used through their charging case, which has its own 4G connection for uploading recordings without a phone or Wi-Fi.
Each earbud contains 16MB of local storage and three microphones rated to capture audio from up to two meters away. Plaud says they can record for as long as six hours, which is also the stated battery limit for a recording session. The design turns the company’s earlier pin-style recorder into a more familiar audio accessory.
Preorders are open, with shipping scheduled to begin in September. Continuous recording around other people raises consent and privacy questions that vary by location, and buyers will need to understand how uploaded audio and generated summaries are stored. The hardware’s usefulness will depend not only on transcription quality but also on clear recording indicators and practical controls over retained conversations.
