Pangram has raised $9 million to expand its AI-content detection software as publishers, schools, and platforms deal with a flood of synthetic material.
TechCrunch reports that the startup also released Pangram 4, a new AI text detection model, and an AI image detector in research preview. The company is positioning its tools for organizations that need to decide whether content was likely generated by a model.
Detection is a difficult market because model outputs keep changing and false accusations can carry real consequences. Text detectors in particular have faced skepticism when used for discipline or moderation without human review.
The funding shows that demand remains strong despite those limits. As AI-generated articles, images, and spam become cheaper to produce, organizations still want signals that help prioritize review. Pangram’s challenge is proving that those signals are accurate enough for high-stakes decisions.
