Planet AI included a TechCrunch report that OpenAI has hired Uber India chief Pradeep Parameswaran to lead its business in India, described as the company’s largest market outside the United States.
The hire matters because AI companies are now building country-level leadership in markets where user growth, developer adoption, enterprise sales, and regulation all move quickly. India is especially important because of its large English-speaking user base and deep technical workforce.
OpenAI’s expansion also signals that frontier AI competition is becoming as much about distribution and local partnerships as model capability.
