Niteshift raises seed funding for AI coding without model lock-in

Niteshift, an AI coding agent startup founded by Datadog veterans, has raised a $7 million seed round.

Its pitch is aimed at companies that want coding agents without deep lock-in to one model provider. That is becoming a real buying criterion as AI coding tools move from individual experiments into engineering organizations.

The round also shows that investor interest in AI coding is shifting from simple autocomplete toward agentic workflows, governance, and model flexibility.
