A new plaintiff has joined a lawsuit against xAI with an allegation that shows how generative image tools can turn ordinary personal photos into severe abuse. Identified as Jane Doe 4, the woman claims her stepfather used Grok to manipulate a photo taken when she was 11 into more than 7,000 explicit images.
The claim was reported by The Washington Post and added to a case filed by three Tennessee teenagers against Elon Musk’s AI company. The plaintiffs accuse xAI of failing to take basic precautions to stop Grok from generating explicit images of real people, including minors.
The case seeks class action status and follows earlier reports that X was flooded with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images. xAI is now part of SpaceX.
The lawsuit is significant because it moves the debate over AI image abuse from platform policy into court. If the claims proceed, the case could test what safeguards image-generation providers are expected to implement when their tools can be used against real people and children.
