Microsoft has made version 1.0 of its Foundry extension bundle for Azure Developer CLI generally available. The extension adds agent setup, local testing and deployment commands to `azd`, allowing teams to keep agent and infrastructure settings in the same `azure.yaml` file as their application.

Developers can initialize a Python agent sample, provision its model and cloud resources, inspect local requests and responses, and deploy the code to a managed Foundry runtime. The same configuration can be reused in continuous-integration pipelines, so deployment changes can be reviewed alongside source changes. A preview command shows hosted-agent changes before deployment.

The extension also connects to Microsoft’s evaluation tooling. Teams can generate test data and rubrics, register evaluation assets and run checks from CI before promoting an agent.

Using the workflow requires Azure Developer CLI 1.37 or later, a supported Python environment, an Azure subscription, Foundry permissions and model quota in the selected region. Provisioned resources and model calls incur Azure charges; availability and quota vary by subscription and region.
