Microsoft’s Agent Framework has moved further into production territory, with the Agent Framework Harness and Foundry Hosted Agents reaching general availability, according to InfoQ. The shift matters because many agent projects stall between a prototype and a governed runtime that an enterprise can operate.
The framework now includes the Agent Harness, connectors for GitHub Copilot and Claude Agent SDK, and orchestration patterns that are described as stable. Instead of only helping developers build an agent, the platform is aimed at running agents with more predictable lifecycle and governance controls.
For engineering teams, the practical change is a clearer path from experimentation to hosted execution. Agents often need tool access, state, monitoring, and policy boundaries, and those pieces become harder to manage when every team builds them separately.
The announcement does not remove the hard parts of agent reliability or security. It does signal that major cloud and developer platforms are turning agent infrastructure into a supported product category rather than a collection of demos.
