Meta AI has introduced a Mac app built around voice input that works across applications, bringing AI-assisted dictation into normal desktop workflows. TechCrunch reports that the dictation feature operates system-wide rather than only inside a dedicated chat window.

That matters because many AI assistants still require people to stop what they are doing, open a separate interface, and paste results back into another app. A system-wide tool can fit into email, documents, messaging, and other writing tasks with less context switching.

The move puts Meta closer to specialized voice-to-text products such as Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue. The practical question is not only transcription accuracy, but whether the assistant can handle edits and commands without interrupting the user’s existing apps.
