Meta is bringing its AI chatbot to the Mac as a dedicated desktop app, giving the assistant a place outside the browser and inside everyday computer workflows.
The Verge reports that the app can work with a shared window, allowing Meta AI to answer questions, make suggestions, or create content based on what is visible on screen. Meta also says the Mac version supports dictation across apps.
The product change is small but strategically familiar. AI companies are trying to move assistants closer to where users read, write, code, and make decisions, instead of waiting for people to copy information into a chat tab.
The useful limit is access. A screen-aware assistant can be more convenient, but it also raises practical questions about what users choose to share and how clearly the app signals that context. The announcement positions Meta AI as a desktop helper, not just another chatbot destination.
