Manulife is expanding its Microsoft partnership through a new five-year agreement aimed at making AI more widely available across the financial services company. The deal focuses on enterprise AI tools for employees, along with governance and innovation work needed to use them at scale.
Microsoft’s Signal feed says the partnership builds on an existing relationship and is intended to help Manulife use AI more broadly. For a regulated financial institution, that means the technology story is not just access to assistants or models. It also includes controls around data, permissioning, compliance, and how employees are expected to use AI in daily work.
The announcement fits a broader pattern in enterprise AI adoption. Large companies are moving from experiments toward longer-term vendor agreements that cover both productivity tools and operating rules. Microsoft benefits by anchoring its AI stack inside a major customer, while Manulife gets a structured path for expanding AI without treating every team’s deployment as a separate pilot.
The practical impact will depend on which tools employees receive, how governance is enforced, and whether AI use improves work without adding new review burdens.
