LinkedIn has added a way for users to report AI-generated “slop,” according to TechCrunch. The new reporting option gives people a more direct tool for flagging low-quality synthetic posts that clutter feeds.
The move reflects a problem across professional networks. Generative AI can make it easy to produce polished but empty career advice, engagement bait and recycled business commentary at high volume. On LinkedIn, that kind of content can undermine the usefulness of a feed built around professional identity.
A report button is only a first step. The platform still needs to decide how reports affect ranking, moderation and repeat offenders. It also has to distinguish between acceptable AI assistance and posts that are misleading, spammy or mass-produced.
The change is important because it turns user frustration into a moderation signal. As synthetic content becomes harder to identify automatically, platforms may rely more on explicit feedback from people who know when a post feels fake or worthless.
