Indeed data shows UK AI hiring rising as knowledge-work listings fall

AI-related hiring is rising in the UK while many knowledge-work job postings fall, according to Indeed data reported by The Decoder. Indeed says AI now appears in 9.4% of British job listings, compared with about 2% in 2023.

The contrast points to what Indeed calls a two-speed labor market. Employers are adding AI requirements or AI-specific roles, while broader hiring in areas such as marketing and management is weakening.

For workers, the numbers suggest that AI is not affecting all white-collar jobs in one direction. Some roles are being pressured, while demand grows for people who can build, deploy, or work alongside AI systems.

The data does not prove that AI caused every decline in knowledge-work postings. It does show that AI skills are becoming more visible in hiring at the same time companies are reassessing parts of their office-work staffing.
