GPT-6 Astra becomes generally available through Amazon Bedrock

OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra is now generally available through Amazon Bedrock. Customers can invoke it through Bedrock APIs or configure ChatGPT Work and Codex to use the model on AWS infrastructure. The model accepts context windows of up to one million input tokens and supports implicit and explicit prompt caching for repeated material.

AWS is positioning Astra for document analysis, software work and agents that operate applications when no API is available. New ChatGPT Work plugins extend browser tasks across business intelligence, Workday, Navan and Avalara. Those plugins use the person’s existing account permissions rather than granting the model separate access. Administrators can also require confirmation for selected actions.

OpenAI classifies Astra at the Critical level for cybersecurity capability under its Preparedness Framework, triggering real-time misuse monitoring that can pause activity. Bedrock adds IAM policies, CloudTrail logging, encryption and private network endpoints. AWS says inference data is not used for training, but classifier-flagged traffic may be retained for up to 30 days unless a customer arranges zero data retention. Region support and pricing vary by Bedrock configuration.
