Google is rolling out Google Pics, an AI image creation and editing tool that will work both as a standalone product and inside Workspace. It is available through pics.new, while integrations begin in Docs and Slides and are due to reach Drive in the coming weeks.
Built on Google's Nano Banana image model, Pics can generate graphics from prompts and make targeted edits to existing images. Users can isolate an object without changing the rest of a picture, edit or translate words while preserving the design and font, request several variations, and collaborate on the same image with teammates. Google is positioning it for tasks such as posters, product mockups, social posts and digital illustrations.
The rollout is not universal. Google says Pics will reach all Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and most Workspace business customers over the coming weeks. Its main practical advantage is workflow integration: people can edit images where they already prepare documents and presentations rather than repeatedly moving files between a design application and Workspace.
