Google Cloud has introduced Open Knowledge Format, a lightweight standard for turning scattered organizational knowledge into Markdown files with YAML metadata. The idea is to make company documentation easier for AI agents to ingest, search, and act on across tools.
The format reflects a broader shift in AI engineering: knowledge bases need to be structured for machines as well as humans. If adopted, simple file-based conventions could make agent workflows more portable than proprietary knowledge stores or ad hoc prompt libraries.
