Google is expanding Beam, its immersive video-meeting system, to customers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan. The hardware is sold as HP Dimension with Google Beam and works with both Google Meet and Zoom. Eighteen channel partners will handle deployment and support.
Beam uses specialized hardware to make remote participants appear more like they are sharing a room. Google is positioning it for recruiting, training and cross-company collaboration rather than ordinary laptop calls. Netflix and Capital Group are among the first customers, while Bain has tested the system for campus recruiting and candidate interviews.
Google also announced an extended network with flexible-office operator Industrious. Starting in October, organizations will be able to book Beam units at selected Industrious sites in Atlanta, Chicago, New York City and Palo Alto. That gives smaller companies a way to try or use the system without installing their own unit.
The evidence released so far comes from Google’s own eight-week internal study. Participating teams reported feeling 50% more connected, found it 33% easier to make feedback understood and needed 21% fewer follow-up meetings. Those figures describe an internal test, not an independent assessment of workplace outcomes.
