Google Cloud and Accenture are creating a dedicated business group that will send engineers into companies to implement Gemini Enterprise tools. Google plans to train as many as 1,000 Accenture “forward-deployed engineers” who can build custom applications alongside client teams.
The arrangement addresses an adoption bottleneck rather than a model limitation. Many companies have bought access to AI services but lack the combined technical and business expertise to fit them into production workflows. Embedding engineers gives Google a route to turn cloud capacity into deployed applications while giving Accenture a larger role in AI implementation.
The stakes are substantial. Google Cloud generated $24.8 billion in second-quarter revenue, with enterprise AI contributing to growth, while parent company Alphabet reported $811 billion in purchase commitments and contractual obligations as of June 30. TechCrunch cites data estimating Google at roughly 6% of US enterprise AI spending, behind Anthropic at 43.5% and OpenAI at 39.7%.
Google has already placed its own engineers through consultancies including Capgemini, Cognizant and Deloitte. The Accenture group expands that strategy, but its success will depend on whether these teams produce measurable returns for customers rather than simply increasing AI-service consumption.
