Z.ai’s GLM-5.3 has reached the top rank among open models on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, according to The Decoder.
The model scored 60 points, tying Kimi K3 for first place in that category and landing seven points above the previous GLM-5.2. The report also notes that Z.ai is positioning GLM-5.3 with lower pricing than rival systems, though the model’s release has been delayed.
Benchmark movement matters because open and open-weight models are increasingly judged not only by access, but by whether they can compete with closed systems on performance and cost. A higher score can influence developer trials, hosting choices, and enterprise experiments.
The caveat is availability. Until the model is actually released, outside users cannot fully test latency, reliability, safety behavior, or real workload performance. For now, GLM-5.3 is a strong benchmark signal with an important practical limitation.
