A German research consortium released Soofi S 30B-A3B, an open language model with a hybrid architecture that activates only part of its 31.6 billion parameters per token. The model was trained on Deutsche Telekom infrastructure in Munich and is weighted heavily toward German-language data.
The release is notable because the consortium says Soofi S leads fully open competitors on both German and English benchmarks. It also reflects Europe's push for stronger regional AI capacity, including models trained and hosted under local infrastructure constraints.
