Google is testing a Pixel 11 feature that lets Gemini conduct an entire phone call with a local business on the user’s behalf. People can ask the Gemini app to make a reservation, check whether an item is in stock or reschedule an appointment without first dialing the number themselves.

The assistant introduces itself, navigates automated menus, waits on hold and talks to the person who answers. The user can follow the exchange through a live transcript and take over the call at any time. That control distinguishes the preview from Google’s earlier Call for Me feature, which could ask nearby businesses about products but did not let a user join the automated call.

Access is narrow at launch. Google is rolling it out as an early preview in the United States for paid Gemini subscribers who own a Pixel 11 and have enrolled in the Phone by Google public beta. The company has not announced broader device or international availability.

Delegated calls could remove routine waiting and menu navigation, but the preview also puts an AI system into conversations with workers who did not initiate the automation. Google’s disclosure that Gemini introduces itself gives the person receiving the call notice that they are speaking with software rather than the customer.
