Ford is rolling out an AI-powered assistant in its Ford and Lincoln mobile apps, giving drivers a conversational way to ask practical questions about their vehicles. The assistant can answer queries such as how much fuel a trip may require, whether a truck can tow a particular load, or what tire pressure information means.

The feature brings generative AI into a familiar ownership workflow rather than a separate chatbot. For drivers, the value is convenience: vehicle manuals and app data can be easier to use when the answer is phrased around a specific question.

The rollout also shows how automakers are testing AI as a service layer around connected vehicles. Accuracy and boundaries will matter, because advice about towing, maintenance, or safety can have real consequences. The assistant is useful if it makes verified vehicle information easier to understand, but drivers still need to treat critical warnings and safety guidance with care.
