Enterprises are giving AI agents access to production systems, internal data, and workflow tools faster than security teams can adapt. VentureBeat reports that in a survey of 107 enterprises, 54% had already experienced a confirmed agent security incident or a near miss.
The most worrying pattern is credential sharing: many organizations still let agents operate through human-style shared credentials rather than scoped, auditable identities. That makes it harder to contain mistakes, trace actions, or revoke access when an agent behaves unexpectedly.
The report reinforces a practical point for AI adoption: agent security is no longer theoretical. Companies moving agents into real workflows need identity, permissions, logging, and spending controls that assume machine-speed actions.
