ElevenLabs has released Music v2.5 through its consumer app and developer API while keeping the previous version available. The company says the update produces fuller, more natural audio and was preferred to its predecessor in a blind test covering 47,885 comparison pairs, especially for R&B, soul, hip-hop, rock and orchestral music. The test and quality claims come from ElevenLabs.

The free tier includes five lossless downloads each day, and the Pro tier includes 400 per month. Users retain rights to generated tracks, but commercial use depends on the customer’s industry and purpose. Free use requires attribution. The service blocks downloads for tracks based on existing artists’ songs and prohibits attempts to imitate musicians.

ElevenLabs says Music v2.5 was trained on licensed stems and music, although it has not published a detailed inventory of that material. Its recent licensing agreement with Universal Music Group applies to separate future products rather than this model.

For developers, API availability means generated music can be incorporated into applications without using the ElevenLabs interface manually. The practical limits remain important: access level determines download volume and licensing conditions, while company restrictions constrain artist imitation and some derivative outputs. Prospective commercial users need to check the terms for their specific field rather than assuming every generated track carries identical permissions.
