Digit 5 is designed to work beside people without safety fences

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, a warehouse and factory humanoid designed to operate alongside people without protective fencing. The robot uses sensors and AI to detect nearby workers, then stops or moves aside, while visual and audio signals indicate its actions.

Digit 5 can lift up to 22.7 kilograms, 40% more than its predecessor. Agility says a nine-minute charge provides 90 minutes of runtime and supports more than 20 hours of daily work through charging cycles. Swappable grippers adapt it for tasks such as moving bins and loading machinery.

The company is Nvidia’s first partner for the Halos robotics safety platform. It also says Digit 4 was the first humanoid to pass an independent OSHA safety review on a production line. Earlier robots logged more than 65,000 customer hours; at GXO, Digit reportedly moved about 100,000 bins with roughly 98% accuracy.

First deliveries are planned for early 2027, including in the EU. Production takes place in Salem, Oregon, at a plant with stated capacity for 10,000 units per year. The safety, uptime, order value and performance figures are company claims; deployment beside workers will still depend on site-specific risk assessments and operating procedures.
