Cornerstone OnDemand says its Orion AI system reduced average database incident diagnosis from 45 minutes to 10, a 78% decrease. A three-person team built the multi-agent system over six months using Amazon Bedrock and the open-source Strands Agents framework.

Before the project, engineers manually queried system views, compared logs and handed investigations between teams. Database lifecycle work could require at least 10 manual steps, reporting lagged by 15 minutes, and overlapping alerts obscured useful signals. Orion coordinates specialized agents to gather evidence and organize the investigation instead of forcing an operator to repeat those searches.

The deployment supports Cornerstone’s data operations rather than replacing human control over every database action. The reported improvement is a company case study published by AWS, not an independent benchmark, and results will depend on the quality of telemetry and runbooks in another organization. Even with that caveat, the project provides a concrete measure of value: faster diagnosis delivered by a small team. It also shows where agent systems can be useful today—assembling operational context and recommendations before engineers decide how to respond.
