Coherent has broken ground on an expanded manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, NVIDIA says. The company makes lasers, optical components, and compound semiconductors used to connect AI systems.

The expansion matters because AI data centers depend on high-speed optical networking as much as GPUs. As clusters grow, moving data between accelerators becomes a critical performance and supply-chain constraint.

The project is another sign that the AI infrastructure boom is reshaping manufacturing capacity around networking, photonics, and advanced components.
