Chinese AI researchers are increasingly using X to participate in the global conversation around frontier models. WIRED reports that staff and executives from labs including Moonshot AI, Minimax, Z.ai, and DeepSeek are using the platform to explain releases, discuss research, and recruit.
The shift matters because many Western readers treat Chinese model releases as sudden surprises. Public posts from researchers can provide earlier signals about technical direction, hiring priorities, and how teams want their work understood outside China.
Moonshot AI appears especially active. WIRED found dozens of accounts claiming current or former ties to the company behind Kimi K3, including cofounders and researchers. Some Chinese researchers said X offers a better technical discussion environment than domestic platforms and helps reach both Chinese and international audiences.
The trend also fills a gap left by quieter Western labs. As companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic become more guarded, public researcher commentary from China may play a larger role in how the AI field interprets new models and capabilities.
