Azure API Management is adding features for AI gateway workloads, including a unified model API and content-safety controls tied to the Model Context Protocol. The update is aimed at teams managing model access across applications and providers.

The practical issue is that enterprise AI stacks are becoming messy quickly. Companies need routing, policy enforcement, observability, and safety checks around models, not just raw API access.
