Apple is adding a contextual AI assistant to Pages, Keynote and Numbers. The beta can draft and restructure text, design and animate presentations, organize spreadsheet data and suggest charts based on the document a person is already editing.

The productivity apps also support the Model Context Protocol on macOS 27 and later. MCP is a standard that lets AI agents call tools exposed by another application, so compatible third-party agents can work with iWork content instead of relying only on screen automation. That access creates useful automation possibilities but also makes agent permissions and approval controls important for sensitive documents.

The built-in assistant uses models from Apple and OpenAI and is rolling out on devices that support Apple Intelligence. Apple lists iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 as the minimum operating systems, so older hardware will not receive the complete experience.

Related creative apps are getting narrower AI features. Pixelmator Pro can generate replacements for selected image regions, while Logic Pro can configure a vocal track from a prompt and classify added sounds on-device. Apple says existing Creator’s Studio subscribers will receive its November updates without an additional charge. The launch establishes availability and functions, but not how reliably the assistant preserves formulas, factual claims or a presentation’s design intent; consequential output still needs review.
