Anthropic’s AI-assisted security work is producing vulnerabilities faster than Microsoft can patch them, according to Ars Technica.
The report describes Microsoft racing behind the scenes to fix issues before attackers discover or exploit them. The pressure comes from the same trend that has made AI attractive for defense: models can speed up code review, vulnerability discovery, and exploit analysis.
That acceleration has a hard operational limit. Finding a bug is only the first step. Vendors still need to verify the report, understand affected products, engineer a safe fix, test it, and release patches without breaking customers’ systems.
The story points to a new bottleneck in cybersecurity. AI can make vulnerability discovery cheaper and faster, but patching remains a human and organizational process. If discovery keeps accelerating, vendors may need new triage rules and disclosure workflows to prevent defensive research from overwhelming remediation teams.
