Google published new research in Nature on AMIE, its conversational medical AI system. The company says AMIE matched primary care physicians in complex disease-management scenarios.

The result is notable because chronic and complex conditions require ongoing reasoning, patient communication, and care planning, not just one-off diagnosis. Those are harder tasks for medical AI than answering isolated exam-style questions.

The work remains research rather than routine clinical deployment, but it shows how medical AI evaluation is moving toward longitudinal care support and real-world decision complexity.
