AWS is positioning the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Browser Tool as a way to automate legacy web applications that cannot be reached through modern APIs. The walkthrough pairs the managed browser service with Strands Agents so an AI-powered digital worker can interact with older interfaces through secure, isolated browser sessions.
The target use case is familiar in large enterprises: business-critical systems that still rely on server-rendered HTML, multi-step forms, and manual data entry. AWS gives the example of insurance operations where staff must navigate policy changes, claims adjustments, coverage updates, and endorsements across complex screens.
Traditional robotic process automation can struggle when pages change or workflows require judgment. AWS argues that an agent-driven browser tool can preserve human-like interaction while adding oversight, session isolation, and audit trails.
The approach does not make legacy automation risk-free. Agents that click through real systems need permissions, validation, rollback plans, and human review for sensitive actions.
