Amazon has opened Alexa+ early access to customers across India in Hindi and English. The upgraded assistant can maintain longer conversations, switch languages within a sentence and carry out multi-step tasks such as ordering groceries or controlling connected-home devices.
Local integrations include Swiggy for food delivery, District for ticket booking, TripAdvisor and MakeMyTrip for travel, EazyDiner for restaurant reservations, and JioSaavn alongside Amazon Music. Amazon first tested Hindi conversations with selected Indian users in June, after launching the original Alexa in the country in English in 2017 and adding Hindi support in 2019. The company says its smart-home device base in India has grown 20% over the past year, though it did not disclose absolute numbers.
All customers can try the assistant during early access. After testing ends, Alexa+ is planned to remain free for Prime members, while non-Prime customers will pay ₹2,000 per month, about $20.85. Amazon did not specify when early access will end. India gives the company a market of more than 600 million Hindi speakers, but useful localization requires more than translation: the assistant must handle mixed-language speech, regional services and transaction failures reliably. The early-access label signals that those real-world workflows are still being tested.
