Entravision has expanded an AI radio personality from a Los Angeles weekend show into a weekday morning program syndicated in five additional markets across California, Nevada and Texas. Coyotec cohosts Al Aire y Sin Permiso with human broadcaster Geraldine “GeeGee” Guzman and mixes Spanish and English while discussing entertainment, community issues and immigration.

The broadcaster says its audience grew after syndication. In Los Angeles, cumulative Hispanic listenership increased 21.6 percent from August to September 2026, while listeners ages 18 to 34 increased 84.9 percent. Those figures come from Entravision’s Nielsen data and cover a short period, so they do not establish the avatar as the sole cause.

Coyotec uses Claude Haiku for live response generation, ElevenLabs for voice, and OpenAI tools for initial scriptwriting. Guzman helped tune its Spanish pronunciation and remains in control of the show. The system can answer her in real time but cannot yet take listener calls on air.

The rollout also raises labor and editorial questions. A former contractor believes AI affected her work, while Entravision says it has not laid off staff because of AI and has hired more people. The station’s experience shows that synthetic hosts can attract listeners, but their output, cultural voice and employment effects still depend on human decisions behind the broadcast.
